Whereby your children are supported and facilitated in leading the design and management of their own permaculture garden and space, through solution-focused, project-based learning.

Permaculture Education
For Kids

A NATURAL LEARNING APPROACH

We believe children have the greatest capacity to learn when they are directly involved in decision-making, planning and applying their own unique ideas and solutions to real life contexts.

THE PERMACULTURE PHILOSOPHY

Permaculture incorporates care for self, care for others and care for the environment. The rhythm of our day will be designed around these ideals. Our day will also be Rudolf Steiner inspired, ensuring it revolves around our heads, hearts and hands.

CARE FOR SELF

May look like journaling, meditation, movement, fresh air, sunshine, healthy eating, positive social interactions...

CARE FOR OTHERS

May look like group work, stories, positive discussion, random acts of kindness, teaching others skills, caring for animals and designing habitats...

CARE FOR THE EARTH

May look like gardening, building healthy soil, growing organic foods, creating biodiversity and eco-systems...

WHAT OUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

Purple Pear Farm Kids is a K-6 multi-aged Permaculture immersion. It is project-based learning, whereby the children are supported and mentored in leading the design and management of their own Permaculture garden and space. Children will be guided in designing and developing an edible garden, managing and caring for animals, and having creative autonomy in designing projects that will improve their natural learning space.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Home-schooling families looking for one or more of the following for their child(ren):

  • A full day permaculture immersion they'll enjoy.

  • An opportunity to interact and socialise with other like-minded children.

  • A program that teaches practical life skills in a natural learning environment.

  • Project-based learning, where children solve problems and develop critical thinking skills.

  • Opportunities that foster their unique intelligences and learning styles.

  • Experiences that nurture and develop a keen interest in the natural world.

BE PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL

We desire Purple Pear Farm Kids to be a community of learners who learn and grow alongside each other, whilst our garden also grows and develops over time. We will encourage students to take ownership of the space and collectively work to develop an ever-changing and evolving garden they will be proud of.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

OUR GUARANTEE

As educators with experience working with a wide range of children of many ages and across many different contexts, we are confident that we can accommodate each child's individual needs. Should problems arise that need to be addressed, we will prioritise meeting the physical and emotional needs of all children and ensure that their families are appropriately informed and involved in this process. In light of this, we will not be offering refunds once each term commences.

FAQs

Who is the  Farm Kids program for?

The Farm Kids program is for children in Kindergarten (5) through to Year 6 (12).

Do I have to pay upfront for the program?

Yes, our term payments are required prior to the commencement of the term. If you are requiring an alternate payment option please reach out and we can discuss possible options.

What does my child need to bring along to the Farm Kids program?

Children will need to bring their own morning tea, lunch, hat, sunscreen, fully enclosed footwear and a set of spare clothes to change into (if needed). If children have any medical requirements that we may need to cater to, we will need to be informed in advance.

How long does the Farm Kids program run for?

The Farm Kids programs will run throughout the course of each school term, typically 10 weeks.

Does my child need to attend the entire 10-week program?

Our preference is for children to attend the Farm Kids program for the whole term. This is to ensure continuity for the children and facilitator. It also allows children to develop positive relationships and ensures they have autonomy and choice when designing their projects.

Is the Farm Kids program safe?

Purple Pear Education prides itself on safety. Both Ash and Nige are qualified teachers. They have up-to-date First Aid and CPR training, there are suitable First Aid Kits on-site and we have a full Risk Management Plan for all of our programs.

What does the Farm Kids program include?

The Farm Kids program includes all the necessary tools, stationery and materials for the projects undertaken.
