Numeracy & Literacy
Tutoring For
Primary Students

Class sizes in schools typically range from 20 to 30 students, sometimes more. Qualified teachers working with children 1-on-1 or in small groups ensures a more individualised approach. Our educators can quickly and easily assess where a child is at and adapt the curriculum and learning style to suit them. Whether your child is below, at or above their current expected year level, we are willing and able to cater for all.

GRADUAL RELEASE OF RESPONSIBILITY

As experienced teachers, we know that every student benefits from individual and small-group targeted intervention; whether it be to fill in a learner's gaps or extend their learning. Regardless of where they are on the continuum; below, at or above, we teach using a gradual release of responsibility model (I do, We do, You do). This ensures each concept is deeply understood and applied by each child, every time.

I DO

We clearly define, model and think aloud as we demonstrate each concept, skill or process to the student/s.

WE DO

We work with the child/ren to repeat the concept, skill or process, guiding them through a gradual release of responsibility.

YOU DO

We observe the student/s readiness to complete the concept, skill, or process independently, then allow them to demonstrate it with confidence.

VERTICAL CURRICULUM

Our small group instruction is grouped into the Literacy and Numeracy developmental stages; based on the Australian Curriculum. Theoretically, this groups Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6; practically this allows for a vertical curriculum.

A vertical curriculum allows for multi-age learning. It does not confine a child to their particular developmental stage or year level. It allows children to access the curriculum where they are at, attending the group session that is most beneficial to them. Whether a child is below, at or above their developmental stage, they can be accommodated.

If necessary, our educators are able to easily assess and provide parents with feedback as to which group would be the most suitable for their child. Alternatively, children can attend 1-on-1 tutoring which will also cater to their ability level.
